Rear boot/trunk light...

Hi there. I have a 2006 Boxster 987 3.2S
The bulb in the rear trunk will not light. I had replaced the original with one that I know work.
When I try to lock the car with the boot open, I hear the horn, so I'm not sure it is the microswitch.
It could be a fuse, but I cannot find which number fuse it is in the manual or online, and if it is shared with any other electrical components, it can't be that as everything else on the car works as it should.
Any ideas as to which fuse I need to pull, or indeed, what else may be causing the problem?

It might be worth checking the wiring at the back of the light unit - you can get to see it if you release the boot liner from the rubber seal. Trace the wiring down as I recall there is a connector near the boot floor that had come free on mine.

Hello there. What you suggest regarding the battery might well have happened recently. I have recently purchased the car and it was at the dealers. What would that mean? Kind regards

James

When the cars are delivered, they leave the factory in energy saving mode. Many of the control units have features disabled to save power during the shipping process. Things like interior lights, headlamp washers, etc. It seems that when the battery is disconnected one or more of these features can lose its setting in the control module and slip back into transit mode. The cure is for the "Vehicle Handover Routine" to be carried out using a Porsche PIWIS tester, which is the same routine the dealer runs to wake up all the systems prior to delivery.

By the way, the rear compartment light does not go through a fuse. It is connected directly to the rear control unit.

Richard, thank you for your reply.

It is going in for a service in a week or so, and I will mention this to them. Many, many thanks.....
