Rear brake disc replacement

I'm considering replacing my rear discs as a 'while i'm at it' job. I remember when I replaced my front disks the disks were a real pain in the backside to get off the hub and required considerable use of a rubber mallet to ease the disks off. Looking at the depth of the rear disk bells I don't fancy my chances with my trusty rubber mallet. Anyone got any hints or tips about how to get the disks off the hubs??

Read up on how to adjust the handbrake and back it off properly and they come free reasonably easily if mine was anything to go by.

Will do...I didn't realise that the handbrake shoe's binded directly onto the inside of the disk bell.

Neither did I when I first changed mine a few years ago, they took blummin ages to hammer off when the handbrake was on full [8|]

I think I could hear Bert giggling over the phone as I ordered new handbrake shoes and springs to replace the mangled ones that fell on the floor

In case you need a visual image of what the adjuster looks like ......

The adjuster is accessed through the large hole in the bell / hub and can be turned with a flat screwdriver.

Hope this helps a little more.

Thanks, that's a great help. I found the Porsche workshop manual very unhelpful on this particular issue so this is a help.
