Rear Brake Discs

Hi guys, I need to change the rear discs on my car and I see 2.5 discs and 2.7 discs listed in a few places but they seem to be identical, although a few places want more money for the 2.7 ones. Are all post-87 lux discs the same and it's just someone trying it one with the cost differences?

Also, going to get the calipers shot blasted and powder-coated whilst I'm in there. Are there any other parts I will need such as seals? I'm already thinking I may as well change the pads as well but am guessing the wear indicators can be reused?

Thanks, David

I'm assuming they are floating calipers and not the 4 pots?
Wear indicators can be reused if not worn through, I didn't bother myself - just tied them up out the way, I have the car in the air for one reason or another often enough to check them.
I can only find 2 discs in the parts file - one for 4 pots and one for the floating - Need to confirm with someone who actualy knows though[:D]
You might need replacement seals or even pistons - not sure if those calipers have the plate issue. I had to replace 3 or 4 dust caps/seals and one piston when I did mine.
Oh and a good quality brake spanner!

Dave there are 2 types but as I'm pretty sure yous will be the deeper ones as ABS would have been an option on your car, saying that does it have ABS?

Either way I'd be willing to money on you needing these ones......

Don't be suckered into believing you have to pay any more than £98 as well, those are German ones right there and they were available next day from Gearbox in Forest Hall for that very price.

Thanks guys, yes Paul it does have ABS so I guess any of the post-87 discs for floating callipers will do.

No plates to lift on these callipers so all good, will inspect the pistons and seals when I strip them down.

Thanks, I was thinking of getting them from ECP as they do the ATE ones very reasonably. Should I get new pads at the same time, I remember someone telling me you should always do this but can't remember why!

I'd always drop in new pads when replacing the discs that way you can be sure of good even wear against the new discs
