Hi all,

Lost a few of the LED's out of my high level spoiler brake light. I have seen the FAQ on replacing them and will give it a go but does anyone know where you can buy the individual LED's?? Can't seem to find them anywhere!!!

Cheers,

Mark

Well I completed this easy DIY this weekend, and I'm delighted with the results! I didn't realise that so many bulbs had blown until I went for an MOT last month and saw the lights for myself when I was watching the car go through. This is what it looked like before:

And this is what it looks like now. For only a couple of pounds for each bulb, this is a very cheap, easy and worthwhile fix. Simply melt the solder for each bulb that is blown (they look black so are easy to spot) and repeat the process when inserting the new bulb.

Nice job! I am having a crack at mine this weekend....any 'gotchas' worth looking out for? I have the p-car guide but was your experience the same??

Cheers,

Mark

I don't think any of mine have stopped working, although I will check the next time I take her out for a run. - Perhaps I'm just not using the break enough?

Mark,

It really is as easy as the p-car guide suggests. The spoiler lifts off (let's hope the local chav's don't get wise to this otherwise they'll be on eBay with the cup mirrors they seem to be able to steal!) and two10mm bolts hold the unit down. Unclip the two cables and the whole unit comes off. Unscrew the 8 philips screws and the back comes off. The circuit board is simply a friction fit, but pull it out gently.
Identify the bulbs that have blown and simply heat up the solder and pull the bulb out. I found that an extra pair of hands helped to keep hold of the circuit board, but it's not a big deal to do it on your own.
Refitting is the reversal of removal as the old adage says! Stand back and admire another simple DIY job well done!
