Rear Brake pipes on a 2ltr '81

Hi all,

Following a leak developing on my trusty steed, I started to strip off the offside front brake pipes - little realising that I would be unable to actually undo any of the connecting nuts that went into the three way connector. After a little brute force and a great deal of grunting, I have managed to brake (pun!) all three pipes that connected to it, I have disconnected and removed the ones to the master cyclinder and the front brake flexi hose, but I am struggling to getthe one away fron the rear brake - it goes over the rear axle and disappears!!!! Has anyone changed these before? Do you have any pearls of wisdom before I rip off the rear subframe to get at a £5 copper pipe!

Might have been better to ask for advice sooner. Plenty of plus gas or wd 40 but dont mix then they turn into a sticky resin, then plenty more. When you undo the nut with a proper brake pipe spanner which is like a split ring spanner but with much thicker walls, look to see if the pipe is turning with the nut, if it is then go the other way and rock gently to and fro eventually the nut will break free and you can undo the union. I believe that Porsche brake pipes are pre shapes so the axle will have to come of. If you are making your own and flaring the ends then feed the tube straight of the roll as it will rapidly work harden as you bend it around and over the axle.

Thanks for the advice, as usual for me.. a bit late.

Since then I have had new lengths made up at a local factor, the copper is amazingly pliable. I replaced the front pipe to the T piece, from the T to the master cylinder and the awkward bugger over the gearbox and torsion bar.
Following clamping the lot together, I then proceeded to bleed the system, small problem - the nipples were frozen on the rear drums. A small fight later I now need to change the Brake Cylinders as they don't have nipples anymore, the temptation is to change the lot now but as the car was only £300 I could end up doubling its value!!

I can recommend a Puller though, a bit of creative work with some spanners meant that the hubs came off a treat...
