Rear brakes

I have just bought a Boxster 2.7 2001 34000 miles. The rear discs do not appear to be as shiny as the fronts indicating that they might be sticking. I have cleaned out the calipers, done some hard braking from 70mph and the discs do get very hot, so they work. Pads have plenty of lining on them, but I do not know the minimum disc thickness.

If the car has been standing for a long time or has had little use, could I expect it would take some time to "clean" up the rear discs?

Your views would be appreciated.

Hi Martin - Any ridges in the disc surface? If there are very slight ones it can cause a dulling appearance - I have this. You can get them skimmed (on or off the car) if there is plenty of meat left on them. Otherwise keep going with them now you know they work & just keep an eye on things to see if the discs get badly scored or ridged - then change them & the pads. BTW if they are that low on pad material the warning light will come on.
