Rear 'bumper block' deletion

I've just finished a quick spin around the Pelican Parts technical website and found a column about removing the rear rubber bumper blocks. It seems a number of people have done it to their cars and there are a couple of pictures showing the results. Our American cousins may have decided to do this because their variants have much larger blocks than ours. The problem of not having number plate lights was got around by sourcing some for a BMW 2002 from Pelican Parts at $18. The rear looks a lot smoother, what do you think? I may try this in the Summer, another project to add to an ever growing list!

Hi Julian,
Sorry but I am not a computer geek so it may take some time to figure out how to do this, I will persevere. The article was on page 20 of their 911 technical forum, entitled 'anyone deleted the rear bumper blocks?'. I will see if I can link to this.
Wish me luck.

The Pelican thread is here.

Not a fan of the look myself I have to say, but beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that...

though the car itself is absolutely beautiful IMO, orange my fave 911 colour

Thanks John,
That was one of the pictures that I had in mind, I must figure out how to post a thread one day. I really like the way that it cleans up the back end, not that it is a mess. Anything for a bit of individuality I suppose.

Maybe if the corner rubbers were extended to terminate at a tidier numberplate light solution I might like it more, but that big gap looks wrong to me. The euro bumper rubbers are part of the 'look'. The back end is a bit busy, but it's original/period/classic to me so will keep it. Anyway, I really like the whole 'black and white' thing going on back there...[8D]

That reminds me, must take that bl**dy daft Carrera badge off it!

What's the little logo on the bottom right of the engine lid John?...looks like Almeras ......

Oui, Almeras - they did all that work last year; gearbox and clutch, dampers/wheel bearing etc etc. You can't beat those rally boys.
