Rear discs

Theres a set of new rear discs on ebay im watching.

"PART NUMBER DELPHI (BORG & BECK) BG 3250
TO FIT THE FOLLOWING MODELS
PORSCHE 944 2.5 2.5 S 2.5 TURBO SIZE 289 MM X 20 MM 1989 - 1991 YEAR"

Now im very confused, i thought the turbo had different brakes to a standard 944 and the later turbo had different brakes again. Or are rear discs all the same?

On the same subject my new 944 is a '87 Turbo,
Front discs are they unique to that model turbo?

Rears ive just asked...

Pads, all round... i know theyre different from the square dash because of the different calipers but are they all the same after a certain date? Or will i need them for a 220 turbo only? ie: not 250 or 3ltr S2 etc?

Wheel bearings, are they all the same for oval dash?

Sorry just a couple of things that i need to do to mine when it arrives which id like clue-ing up on.

cheers

David,
(don't take this info as read but get it checked before purchasing anything)

1987 Turbo Rear disc 951.351.041.02
Front bearing (inner) 999.059.061.00
Front bearing (outer) 999.059.089.01

Stratsone of Wilmslow are having a sale on parts for older cars - see posting on forum - maybe a bargain to be had.

Cheers,

The early turbo's had the same brakes (i.e. discs and calipers) as the S2 and the later turbos had the same rear brakes but upgraded front brakes.

Cheers,

Thanks, i dont suppose you can point me to the sale that firms having? although i fear genuine porsche parts will be through the roof!

EDIT: found the link, any idea what kinnda prices they will be charging?

scott - cheers for the info on the sizes.

so the '87 turbo front brakes are the same size as the S2? to clarify.

any ideas on my other questions?

Yes, the '87 turbo front brakes are the same set up as the S2 (Silver Rose by exception as those came out in late '87 - buy you'll know if you've got a Silver Rose from their...... ahem...... distinct interior). I've got a complete set of Mintex pads if you want pads as well. Let me know if you are interested.

I recently fitted OEM rear discs. I think they cost me about £80 each which is about £20ea more than non-OEM discs, which given alot of people's experiences with non-OEM discs (and mine to a lesser extent) I thought i'd rather pay the extra £40 and have ones that wont corrode, warp or squeal. I know there are just as many people out there who have no problems with non-OEM discs, but I just didn't want the risk and hassle. Hopefully you'll get a 10 - 17.5% discount form an OPC. I always get a discount when I buy parts from Nottingham OPC, often equal to vat, without asking.

No idea of prices. I'll be phoning them tomorrow as I want a pair of rear discs for my 944 and pads to suit.

Cheers,

I got my Sebro cross-drilled ones for about 30 quid each cheaper then that. The bells are zinc/paint coated so don't rust, and so far they have been very very good. Ask Bert Gear about these disks since he sells them at a similar price to what I paid. Do not confuse them with the zimmerman ones which ISTR are not painted on the bells.

Did you order yours? what was the price?

Discs not a sale item - wanted £75 each for the discs and £63 for a set of pads. With VAT on top that would be about £250 plus delivery - didn't ask about ant membership discount.
Actually bought the discs and pads from Bert Gear for approx £100 including delivery. Parcel arrived today so I'll be fitting them next week. So I would try Bert at Berlyn Services.
Cheers,

I thought ONLY S2's and Turbo's had 4 pots - the other models had floating calipers (??) - single pot all round? Not sure about the S though....

EDIT: Just re-read the original post properly.... I don't know the sizes of the disks but weren't the M030 option bigger? That would be the only time I would guess its different. Other than that I'm quite sure the Turbo and S2 brakes are the same.

My old 924S which is the same as early 944 only had floating calipers all round certainly not four pot, I thought this was a turbo and S, S2 thing.

My '83 has similar sized discs all round, and similar style single piston calipers, all of which were standard on n/a 2.5 inc S and 2.7. Turbo and S 2 had uprated ones but not sure of rotor size

Cheers guys was just checking the disc size, diameter for cars with single pot floating calipers is 289mm, 4 pots are 299mm.

Thats what I was checking.

Finally bought a set of rear disc, but.... no I can't fine anywhere that stocks the handbrake shoes [] really being made to work at getting this car finishewd lol

Part number is 996 352 993 00, anyone have a set for sale or know anywhere in the North East that has them in stock?? Other than £90 from OPC I'm not THAT desperate!!

Spoke to Stephen at Tom Fergusons, might have some I'll have to check back on Monday, thanks for the tip I didn't even know the place existed!!

But its bizarre that no where is able to stock a part that is so common to so many Porsche models!
