rear end rattle

I've got a pretty loud rattle coming from the rear of the car, both on tickover and while driving along.

Is there anything which it is likely to be - my first thoughts were a loose exhaust or cover plate? Is that likely?

I had a funny noise that sounded like the innards of the Catalytic converter were loose and rattling around.Eventually tracked it down to rear disc brake shield rusted out at it's lower fixing. A large washer under the bolt head cured it. One of the cheapest repairs ever on a Porsche.

The heat shield over the rear box on my S2 Cab came loose & was rattling for a couple of days till I fixed it with some bolts & Nyloc nuts. Another cheap repair.

I've just bought a new brake shield for my S2. Not fitted it yet but it has to be the most expensive piece of metal I've ever bought at 38+vat! Wish I would have stuck to a washer!

I don't think there is anything else left to rattle apart from the exhaust, heat shields and brake shields. There is a heat shield on the underside of the fuel tank above the transaxle - but I doubt that would rattle that much.
