the rear engine lid dampers have gone on my 911.are they easy to change.i have looked at them and the rear bolts look hard to get to .can you get access via the rear seats?

No access from rear seats. Only access is through normal opening. Never tried to change them so can't answer that bit.

Andy,

If you have a look at the Technical Section on John Miles' web site (http://www.porsche964.co.uk/) you will find instructions on how to change them.

You will have to remove the air cleaner and the rear blower but it's not too difficult (apparently!!). Just don't drop the bits you remove!!!

Regards

Dave

I did this recently. It was fairly easy. Do make sure the engine is cold.
I managed it without removing the heater blower.
It's a bit fiddly.
It's benficial to have a receptacle/something below where you are trying to remove/fit the pins and clips to stop them falling into oblivion.
It took me about 30-40 mins.
It is definately much better than having to wedge the engine lid open (or banging your head repeatedly!)

Took me about 20mins, but I'm well versed in getting the air filter and blower motor out, its a 2 on a scale of 1-10

It's not difficult, but worth removing the blower and filter cover first. Biggest risk is dropping the clips that secure the inside ends of the struts. I suggest attaching a wire to the clips before sliding them off the pins.
