Rear fan

Please can anyone tell me when the rear fan under the spoiler operates and if there is a quick way of testing it.
Since owning the car, I've never noticed this thing operating.

The front ones operate when hot or when air con is on, but cant say I've noticed the rear one operating.
I dont have any cooling issues, just for my own information want to make sure it operates when needed.

Car is 2000 C4 cabrio tip

Cheers
Dave.

It's all here: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=330170

On my C2 the engine compartment fan hardly ever came on. On the Turbo it's a common occurrence.

Hi Richard,

Many thanks.
Do you now if there is anyway to force the fan to run to check all is capable of operating?

Cheers
Dave.

Only with a Porsche tester, I'm afraid. I guess you could hot wire a supply to the fan motor, but that wouldn't test the sensor.

If there was a problem, you would get a flashing light in the temperature gauge, so I don't think you should worry.
