Rear foglight issues

I'm trying to diagnose a problem with my rear foglights which aren't working. I've checked the bulbs (found a duff brake light one instead) and the fuse and all are fine. From what I can gather the foglight relay controls both the front and the rear foglights and basd on the fact that my front foglights work, it can't be that either.

Any suggestions where I should look next? I should also say that the switch in the cabin doesn't light when activated, which suggests there's no power getting there. Wiring ? Broken switch?

Cheers

James

This may be a stupid reply, but here goes, and apologise up front for its inept"ness".

You are aware that the rear fogs will only work under two conditions, with side lights and front fogs on?

Sorry

Thanks for your reply and don't I feel a bit of a prat now. [:D] You are right of course and having been to the car and turned the front fogs on the rears light up perfectly.

In my defence I had been trying them with the lights on but not the front fogs. Reason being is that some modern cars make you have the rears on before the fronts, but I've never experienced it where you need the fronts on first.

Anyway, thanks again and problem now solved.

Cheers

(Everyone apart from me, who spent a good 20 minutes on one occasion working out the same. But that's OK because I did work it out. Eventually. Ahem.)

James

You've brightened up my Monday morning :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Your honesty is admirable.

It reminds of the RTFM thread a wee while ago - I now keep my foot off the gas when I start LIL up and she has been a significantly happier lady ever since....

All in a day's work Colin. [;)].

In my defence (again) I don't have a manual, and I have never got round to ordering one.

So, if anybody has an S2 driver's manual that they no longer need as part of their track day preparations, do let me know.

My MOT tester nearly failed my car on faulty fog lights - until I turned on the fronts for him [:D]

- I remember struggling to find the trip counter reset button when I first bought the car - had to "phone a friend" [:)]

I knew I should have PM'd my answer LOL, who would have looked the prat if you had tried it already.

Anyway, small price to pay and little effort, and remember we are amongst friends.

Regards

Stu

Don't feel bad James - I did the same with my Carerra 3.2. The under bonnet mounted light just wouldn't work. I checked everything and even ripped the wiring out intending to run my own.

That was until my friend told me that the car headlight need to be on first .............

OK, and if this is to be a public display of stupidity then I will admit to very nearly doing the same thing.

The underbonnet light on my S2 has never worked. And it was something I was always 'getting around to' fixing.

Until I opened the bonnet with the sidelights on the other day, and noticed it working ... and then tried to chase the bad connection that had suddenly caused it to start working after 3 years of duff-ness ...
