Rear footwell water ingress (1991 944S2)

Does anyone have any idea why my rear drivers side footwell is filling with water?
It does not appear to be coming from below (ie through the floor) so I can only think it is from some drain pipe (maybe the roof?).
But where do the drains run from/to and how do I check?
The passenger side is not suffering.

Can anyone help?!

Charles,

Have a search on here for 'Leak'. There are a number of threads on it, and a fairly limited number of causes.

Hi Charles,

As Oli has said, this topic has been covered many times over the last year if you set the "display posts from" option and do a search.

Basically, it's likely to be a sunroof drain, four of them inside the sunroof housing and easy to check by pouring water down them one at a time to see if it comes out under the car. If not, the two that drain through the boot might have been tucked inside the car instead of through the appropriate hole, one of mine was. Or, if they are blocked use something like nylon strimmer cable to clean them, being careful not to dislodge the tubes inside all the interior trim.

Also commonly the drains in the scuttle, pour water around where the bonnet struts are, at the bottom of the a-pillars, and see that it drains out of the bottom of the wheel arches. Leaves get in here and block it. It's possible for water to come through holes made when fitting alarms etc. as well. Sometimes the rear quarterlights or the screen itself can leak, but this should be obvious by tatty rubber, and the drain holes in the doors can block, allowing water to build up inside.

Good luck!

Thanks Paul!
Sorry..... I didn't read enough before asking the question!!
I've seen the other posts to Oli now and together with your advice have a better idea of what to look for and eliminate.
It's always a relief to know others know what you're talking about!

Many thanks!

Charles K.
