Rear Glass

I had my car in the garage yesterday regarding a noise from behind the passenger seat. I've previously posted about this. The OPC said all of the 4 991's had the same issue and it must be a design of this particular model. What I'm finding is the glass in the rear quarter moves when I push it form the side as if the glass unit is floating. I'm not sure if this is causing the noise and there are posts/videos on the internet of people padding below the glass with rubber strips but if it's meant to be "floating" so to speak and designed in this way, I don't want to wedge the glass. The noise could also be the headlining, or side panels under the side glass, I just don't know but certainly the glass moving seems the most obvious issue/cause at the moment. Does anyone know more about how the glass should be and should it actually move about?

There is nothing worse than being told by a representative of the manufacturer that 'they are all like that' as if it is not an issue because they are all equally bad [8|]

Yes, I’m not convinced it’s strictly true but the representative seemed surprised himself it was so bad across 4 cars. I can’t believe he’d not come across it before.

I had a knock from the rear of our 991 4S after a trip to Scotland last year.
A spanner check failed to find anything wrong and I decided to get the car checked over at the dealer.
I cleaned the car prior to taking it in (yes I know it’s a disease you see) and I found a stone sitting at the base of the rear glass hidden by the overlapping bodywork panel.
When I tried the car after removing it the noise had gone?
The stone was rattling against the glass and the glass amplified the noise out of all proportion to the size of the stone.
Worth a close look as it got me guessing.
