Guys, i got very few of the heater rear screen elements working on the car. whats the fix?
Does the hatch need to come off and each element studied for breaks and then some detailed soldering?
Is there a more subtle way? would a heavy coating of Rain-ex solve the problem

Working air con would be a big help to clear the inside. I'm always amazed how quickly the AC clears the rear window sections that the rear screen element doesn't reach. I suppose the outside would be a problem with hard frost though and require the elements working.

In terms of the elements themselves, I'm sure you can get special paint that you can paint over all the elements with, and it joins them all up again. i would imagine a very steady hand would be needed or I suppose you could take time to mask it up and then paint with a wobbly hand!

I'm pretty sure there will be other solutions available that I haven't looked into.

Decades ago I successfully used a heated rear window element repair kit which was just conductive paint. You can still buy similar things on amazon and ebay. Easy to find the broken element sections using a magnifying glass, then lay masking tape along both sides of the break and paint between. Let it dry. Sounds too simple but it worked. A few quid outlay.

hi Eddie,…i had this problem on my first 944 lux when i some 24 years ago and like Stuart has mensioned ,..i used the only thing i knew of to do yourself easily and that is sone spersific conductive silver/solder paint ,…well i assume it’s got sone type of conductive element like solder but i’m sure other may chime in with there experience and knowledge.

my problem and still have it to repair funny enough as i swapped the hatches over from my lux to my turbo becuase it was better condition ,..my problem is the spade connector part came unstuck from the glass and hence broke the circuit,..so i glued it back on prob with superglue back then being about 17 and used this speacial paint to join up the conductive parts onto the connector and it worked just fine ,…i still have that paint somewhere in a bag believe it or not

yours would be a case of inspect the parts that have a brake in them ,…clean up with rubbing alcohol ( don’t be tempted to drink :) ) then i woukd put few strips of masking tape side by side to leave a nice beat line leading to the other lines iether side of the break,…and paint ontop nice amount ,..then wait maybe 2 mins and slowly pull up and away each strip and if comes off clean and straight job shoukd be a good one !
