Well, I think the time has come[]

I need to get the rear hatch re-bonded on my car, its fitting badly and noisy, also as the car is outside I get a small water leak.

Can anyone recomend any company to do this, I am based in the Cheltenham area.

I seem to remember there was something about an Autoglass service in this thread but I have not read it in detail but here's the link anyway...

Assuming you don't mean the rubber seal?

I'm interested to know the age of the car, and any other factors that may have contributed to the problem. If there's a time factor in the degradation of the hatch, it will affect us all!

No its the bonding of the glass to the frame. There is not much more I can say, just its lifting away and I get water in the top and wind noise [8|]

Just not sure your regular Autoglass man can do, it looks complex.

Autoglas Edinburgh stuffed up my A pillar interior trims on both sides, threw away the spacer blocks under the screen leaving the holes exposed and rusting, and left bulges of sealant on the interior of the screen. I would strongly recommend standing behind them with a solid object in hand to coax the best work out of them.

My hatch was also coming away from the frame (1990 car around 3 years ago) there is a write up on Pelican parts on how to repair them http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/944_hatch_glass_repair/944_hatch_glass_repair2.htm , On mine a short section had come detached, any (gentle) sideways force on the open hatch would expose the crack. I squeezed in some black silicon from B&Q and that seems to have stuck and sealed it. The full method on Pelican was further than I wished to go.
I would guess mine may have been caused by leaving the hatch open in strong side winds, but as it had occured prior to me owning the car it is just a guess.

I just find them ludicrously expensive - quoted £700 for a 944 Lux windscreen.

That sounds cheap! 944 windscreens are ludicously expensive i'm afraid - i've got a £1500 bill for a new windscreen in my maintenance history. Make sure you have windscreen cover with your insurance!
