Rear heated window problem

My rear heated window hasn't worked for a while now and I noticed one of the wires that goes from the rear hatch strutt to the heating element was black and brittle so obviously an issue with the current/voltage going through it, this is not the problem however!! When I pulled the wire off the connector that is soldered onto the heating element it came away [](the tab that is) can this be soldered back on or perhaps glued back!!??

Any help would be appreciated chaps.

Cheers

At one time(?) Halfrauds used to do a repair kit for heated rear windows.
But my imperfect memory may be regressing farther than I care to think....

The element itself is fine its just the tab thats come away. Is that what the kit is for or is it to repair the element??

The kits I have seen are a metal conducting glue. So if your tab as come away from th eglass then this would sound like the ideal thing to glue it back on to the edge of the HRW element.

It's always worth replacing those little bits of wire from the HRW to the rear struts as it's amazing how quickly they go bad and brittle which really degrades the performance of the heater. Make sure you use the correct ampage wire - IIRC it's the thickest one that is generally available for car electrics

Aside from the repair kits mentioned, electrically conductive epoxy is a fairly common item - available from RS, Maplin and the like.
