one of my my rear lights goes out, but then comes back on when i give it a bang.

does anyone know a quick fix. Someone said check the relay, and someone else said i should just spray the whole unit and compenents with WD40, but i don't want to damage anything

thanks

Open the back of the light and remove the bulb - it sounds like it's either a little loose or possibly corroded. Give it a clean and check that it's sitting in the holder properly and see how you go

If a little tap fixes it temporarily, a good belt with a hammer should fix it properly! [;)]

or maybe just do what Andy suggested..... if it is corroded in the holder get a small piece of emery paper ~ roll it up and it's ideal to clean the inner contacts. Sometimes a new buld can help in such situations too.... even when cleaned a once rusty bulb can give troublesome contact. This makes no sense whatsoever to me, but trust me ~ I owned a fiat Strada when I was a student and therefore enjoyed weekly contact cleaning fun []

I had a brake light that did that for months, used to be a right pain. It turned out it was a bad contact inside the bulb and a new one cured it permanently.

I had a similar problem and had to replace the wire to the bulb holder after trying most of the above... Not what you want to hear, but it's a process of trial and error tracking down the problem I'm afraid.

I had contact problems with a bulb ot two on the rears and after continual cleaning I just replaced them with new bulbs and for the last 2-3 months they have been fine. Having a problem now with the front one which is a bad connection and stays on for a week then goes out again and I have to remove the cover and adjust the connection again.
