Rear numberplate fixing

Now that my rear end looks as good as it did when the car rolled off the production line - if not better - my tatty numberplate is really letting the side down so i've just ordered a new one. Being supercritical i've noticed that my current numberplate fixing screws are very close together which doesn't look right to me. Is there a bracket that you can get that spaces out the screws or is it best just to use double sided adhesive pads?

My 924S had a bracket the American & the continental cars have brackets, but these space the plate away from the body by about 5mm & it is imposible to clean behind the plate.
I'd go with the industrial strength double sided tape, unless you use the screw heads as part of a personalised plate (this is of course illegal) in which case you could glue on plastic number plate screw heads.

I agree with Graeme. The problem is that the holes are quite close together in the back panel, but the brackets space the plate away. I'd go with sticky pads - the Halfords ones are OK. Remember to cover the holes with Duck tape to prevent fumes/water leaking in.

They are good. It saves all the faffing about with registration docs and you can get customer specified sized ones like the one I got for the front to fit perfectly inbetween the slots for my intercooler and radiator which turned out to use near as damn it standard sized lettering on a slightly smaller sized plate. I've stuck with standard for the rear though.

Do they have the BS standard number printed tiny on them somewhere? Mine dont and it might not be legal, bearing in mind that the original plates wouldn`t have that anyway.

I strongly suspect that on cars first used before 1st September 2001 they'd have the Devil's own job proving a "show plate" is illegal if it would have been Ok prior to the regulation change on that date.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]That's the thinking behind my ordering a self-adhesive plate for the MX5 at least.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Sorry to go off topic - but what the hell is going on!? [&:] First of all Rick goes Ricer with his MR2, now you Fen. My missus got rid of her MX6 because I kept calling her a Rice Girl. (and because a Baby seat wouldn't fit)
