rear offset - confused. Is the RS different?

Hi - bought some second hand cargraphic rims in a 10 * 18 offset 52 for the rear and had toyo 888 265/35/18. When I fit them to the car they are sticking out just beyond the arch. Obviously cant use them as they would hit the arch on bump etc. Is the RS wheelbase at all different to standard 993? lots of companies quote 52 offset for the rear in this size? I am v confused. The standard speedlines sit just inside the arch

PET shows ET52 for the front wheels but ET65 for the rear on the RS. I'm afraid there is nothing you can do with the wheels since you cannot increase offset - only reduce it.

ET52 was the standard offset for narrow bodied 964s - both front and rear.

Sil, you have the wrong sized rears!
As stated 18 x10 ET 65 is standard,,,I have just fitted some new 888 265/35 x 18 on carrera 02, 10" et 65's to my RS....spot on, I wouldn't want 285's on there with Toyos, where as pirelli rossos fit fine in that size.

Did you find out which Porsche they were previously fited on??

18"s were fitted to 964 cup with 8j front et 52 & 9.5j rear et 47
other 18"s on 964 turbo were 10j rear with et 61

Yes, you're right. I was only referring to the standard 16" wheels on the narrow bodied cars - ET52 all round. Once the wheels get wider than standard the offsets have to change. The Turbos have a wider track so need the higher offset at the rear.

ET 52 at 10" on an ET55 at 9" car means 10mm towards the inner wing and 16mm towards the outer wing. You could roll the arches?!? or dial in a touch more camber? There's a bit of 'play' in the standard arch but I wouldn't trust that width over a fag paper let alone a speed bump.
You cold cheat and swap the inner rim for awider part and the outer rim for a narrower part. Or you could take the wheels back with some or your larger associates as encouragement.
To maintain the same outer rim position as the existing Cup2 (in relation to the outer wing/arch) the 10" wheel would need to have an ET of 68. This is 0mm outer extension (obviously) and 26mm inner extension (the extra inch no less).
