Rear passenger legroom

Evening all, I'm contemplating a 996 purchase in the coming months and wondered if you could help me out a little. I'm 6'5" and will have 2 small children shortly (second is 4 days overdue!), and would like to use the car for family stuff at the weekend as well as proper driving stuff by myself. I sat in a Turbo recently and got comfortable, looked behind me and thought 'there's not much getting in there'! So my questions are...

a) Does a Turbo have Sport seats as standard? (the ones I sat in didn't look or feel especially sporty but I can't remember if they had hard backs or not) and

b) Would the hard-backed sports seats give any additional rear passenger leg space?

Many thanks!

Welcome Ben!

a) No. Most had full electric memory seats, but sports seats were a no cost option.

b) No. Very little difference in size (if anything) between standard and sports seats.

Don't let that put you off though!

i have a 996 C4 which fits two kids in the back a 5 and 3 yr old the 8 sits in front - thats why i was allowed to buy it . you are welcome to borrow the kids for any length of it

I'm 5'10" and i managed to get a similar sized person in the back behind me he just had to have his head tilted. I know minny manages to use it as a family car. I seem to remember him mentioning getting a 7ft tree in there too.

I'm the same height as you Ben, got 2 girls aged 5 and 2 that fits in no problem. But now that I have a bucket seat I have to get a little bit closer to the wheel. ;-)

Strangely, my 3.2 is more spacious in the rear than my Turbo was. There is certainly more leg room.

Strange, i do like how the caymans have a 'boot' at the back with the rear window lifting up.

Don't forget the base of the rear seats are just Velcro down too.
I take mine off to give more room at the back at times and it makes quite a difference.

Don't worry about rear leg room, you can always open the windows for legs to dangle . Carry my lads around until they where old enough to buy their own Pork [:D]

I used to have my two kids in the back of mine. However, now my eldest has got bigger, he gets the front seat and my 5'2" Mrs gets the rear seat behind him with the seat forward. My 2 year old still fits fine behind me in her car seat with the rear seat back and base removed.

That's encouraging Alex, thanks. Am now on the hunt for a manual C2 in black with savannah. By the way, do you think if I bought a car with black or grey interior there would be plenty of people with savannah wanting to swap? Is it a fairly straight forward job? Would a breaker do a straight swap for no charge given black is probably in more demand?

Thanks!

I have just down the reverse going from savannah to black seats are not too bad but getting carpets rear seats was very difficult 6 months on eBay to source
