Rear Porsche script sticker

Afternoon all, I've tried the search facility but cannot find any suitable threads. Has anybody tried removing the Porsche script sticker from the rear end, above the bumper? Any suggestions? I think it dates the car quite badly?

Yep... wait until a hot day in the summer, and gently peel...
If you can't wait that long, find some other form of warming it up... hair-dryer is tradditional, I believe.

The challange is to get each letter off in one piece... I managed all bar one!

Regards,

Tref.

Don't do it!

As it's off, I'm willing to bet you'll want it back on again [:D]
It adds balance to the rear of the car, & can look very bare without it.

I had a 924S that was missing a rear Porsche sticker - I put it back on & it looked tons better.

I agree, the sticker dates the car alright. I removed mine and the black bumper strip.

I've just been removing all the stickers (it's amazing how many were on the car) and the only ones I've given up on are the rear script, on my car it just doesn't want to come off cleanly - I think it'd take me most of a day to do so gave up and will let the body shop grind it off.
I'm contemplating either fitting a new one without the end pieces to see how that works or leaving it bare - it certainly looks good on John's car (I'm also contemplating removing the rubber strip too).

Thanks for the replies guys, Jon, is it much work to remove the plastic bump strip? Does it leaves any holes? Thanks, Ben

Removing the bumper strip is the easy bit. It will leave 11 mounting holes that will need to be filled but nothing too difficult to do. I personally think it was a worthwile mod on my car being white. If it was black I would have left the bumper strip on. I felt it was just too contrasting against the white paint.

I can't help thinking that tinting the lights red would really complete the look. I'm not normally keen on it, but it works on the 968 which has a similarly sparse looking rear. I might have to add this to my ever increasing list of planned mods whilst it's in the body shop [;)].

Yeah I'm very tempted to tint my rear lights red, think it would look especially good against the black?

Oh, I like the second one. Would also make we want to put on a Black turbo badge and paint the wheel centres graphite... Sorry getting carried away again [:)]

You bunch of chavs, the lot of you. 944's should be left exactly as Dr Porsche intended them.

And as for you Mr Empson - While I appreciate you are a weight loss nut case do decals really and that much weight.

All said with tongue lodged in side of mouth.

Ooooh that second one really does look pretty good.

Hmmm. :thinks:

(And this is from a die-hard "keep it original" hack.)

Peter - you'd need a "Kompressor" badge, as it isn't (and won't be, despite your recent purchase) a turbo.

Oli.

Hi Oli,
My car definately wont be getting a turbo badge, and if I'm honest Kompressor reminds me a bit too much of Mercedes. I did think about 944SC but will probably just leave it completely blank for that stealth look (Lol! When you see the end result I have planned stealth is unlikely to be the first word to come to mind [;)]).

However I may still be tempted to have a discrete 'Supercharger Inside' sticker made up in the style of the Intel one [;)] (not that I'm getting anywhere fast with that project at the moment [], suppliers are being a pain in the arse).

My car is finally going into the bodyshop on Friday, that means I'm going to be in a foul mood for the next month till I get it back [:(]

Quite right. You wouldn't catch me changing anything on any of my cars. [8|]

I hardly think deleting the " porsche " script from the rear could be considered as chav? But hey....doctors differ - patients still die
