hi. just recently got my first 944. its an 87 oval dash lux. and ive just noticed that the rear seat base has been replaced with wat i'm assuming is an earlier base as their is no holes for the seat belt buckles/clasps and their isnt any fitted. i've just stopped bidding on a whole rear seat belt set on ebay as it got upto £49 and i'm not paying that much as i only need the buckles. can anyone tell me if their are any buckles from another car that i can go pinch from a scrapyard that will fit because the mot is in a couple of months.

help would be much apreciated. steve

On my 86 oval dash car there are no rear seat belts. Are there mounting holes under the seat cushion or do they have to be drilled ?

yes there are threaded holes under the seat for buckles to be bolted. and the belts are fitted, i just think sumeone has removed the buckles because an older seat has been fitted with no holes in for the buckles to be bolted through. steve

I didn't have any rear belts but wanted to take the children out occasionally. O bought 2x 3 point belts from the net (made by Securon) and fitted the lap belt by making a template on another 944 and then cutting a small hole in the side trim and then a small hole in the seat base. The belts came with bolts however the thred was too thick for the hole in the boot floor for the diagonal mounting point.

I was given a choice of lengths and went for the shortest, but to be honest even they are too long with lots of slack which is then routed and hidden under the boo carpet.

The worst bit is lining up where to make the holes, so if you can have another 944 side by side then it would be advisable!
