Rear Seat **confused**

I was messing and tinkering with the 944 earlier, and dropped the rear seats so I could have a mooch in the boot area - BUT - when I was putting the seats back up they didnt seem to fit! I couldnt lock them back into upright position , the locking mechanism didnt seem to reach where it should - almost as if the seats were about an inch to narrow on BOTH sides. My 944 is a 83 LUX, but has later half leather turbo seats in it - is it possible that these just do not fit and Ive just not noticed before - or am I being a complete tool?

I'm pretty sure (nearly positive) that all the rear seat backs will fit all models.

Are yours the split rears? Maybe the central bolts above the transmission tunnel have come loose so that both halves of the seat back are sitting a little bit inboard and the outer latches do not reach into the outer catches? [&:]

Hmm not sure - thought they were just a single folding unit - but they could be 50/50's cant remember now - I dont tend to try and venture into the rear too often as its hard getting back out!
Ill have a look when its light and update on here...

Have you checked that your Clinchy Bolt is tight?

This sits underneath the car - almost directly under the rear seat area - if this works loose the body will fold up a smidge ~ hence you can't put them back up. Is there a slight inward crease in the roof now? [&:] [:(] [;)]

*cough* Did you unlock the seats to drop them?

Im not sure whether I unlocked them, or just pushed the buttons in and pushed the seat forward - didnt notice whether they were locked/unlocked before i did it...
And yes I am saying that its possible that the rear seats never did lock up at all... still confused - not bothered to look into it again yet...

Hmmm, I've never had this problem, and I have never tried gradually pushing the seat harder and harder to try to get it engaged... and I have never, ever, sheepishly moved the seat-belt strap from between the catch and the locking pin and proceeded to smoothly clip the rear seat back in place...

I have how-ever, had a heavy box in the boot which prevented the seat-back carpet from sliding under the boot-floor carpet as it should do - that confused me for a couple of seconds...

Regards,

Tref.
