Rear Spoiler Controller Problem

Hi I've had problems with my automatic spoiler operation lately so I did a quick check on the loom to make sure all was well.

After pawing over the relavent wiring diagrams I've checked the obvious things like the operation of the micro switches on the spoiler, the manual operation switch on the center console and all the earths plus the power supply to the spoiler controller etc and all seem ok but the unit still has one of the relays chattering from time to time and the spoiler deploying to the up position irrespective of my speed.

Can one of you guys (with a spoiler controller that works) do me a favour and tell me what signals you get between terminals going into the contoler (situated in the upper left footwell for 1991 onward and under the left seat for earlier models);

termianl #5 (earth) & #12 with the ignition on. (I get 13v)
#5 & #12 with the ignition off. (I get 3v)
#5 & #6 with the ignition on. (I get 13v)
#5 & #6 with the ignition off. (I get 13v)
Also does anyone know what signals the two wires that come from the "Central Informer" connections 2 & 22 of the white plug consist of?

I would be very grateful for any help you guys could give.

Many thanks

Matthew

Good news - it was the controler (that's obviously not the good bit) so it was not a general wiring fault.

The good bit is that it was only a dry solder joint and after some deft action with my trusty old soldering iron it is now fully functional.

The PCB has curcits on both the top and bottom faces and is linked together by solder without mechanical jointing pieces. All I did was resolder all these and it was done.

I now have a perfectly functional rear spoiler and it didn't cost me a bean.

Glad its fixed as it can be nightmare to find the fault, the rear is controlled in many places.

It might also be worth checking/cleaning the rotary spoiler switch on the tunnel console as that played up on mine causing problems.
If yours is an earlier model without this rotary switch them forget this
Mine was full of dust and rubbish not making good contact

Thanks for the hint Elliot.

One of the things I checked was the switch and it worked fine but, as you say, it was full of cr4p and was more than greatful after a clean and re-lube.

All the best.

D2 MJB also from Hampshire.
