rear spoiler curtain

At a recent service I was told that rear spoiler curtain was broken. Is this the same as a rear spoiler wall - I only ask as there is a subject of replacing this item on John Miles's website.

Does anyone know what this part does - is it purely cosmetic or does it have a purpose ?

Thanks.

The curtain is the wall you are describing
It is very much required, its your air for engine cooling and for your rear downforce.
You can in the meanwhile use some duck tape to seal up the cracks till a replacement is bought or fitted.
Around £50 for the curtain at an OPC, if its only a crack in the bend then its not an urgent matter, but it is required
JM's site is a mine of info for 964s [;)]

I just replaced mine at the weekend...its a very simple job, and although the instructions on Johns site are great I found it much easier. I didnt take the spoiler apart at all.

Simply lower it an inch or so below its max and lever off the bottom ....use a screwdriver blade to start off at one end and then simply prise it off all the way along. Then raise spolier up to max ( purely to give you more room) and do the same on the top. Fitting is reverse !!

It actually is fairly obvious when you have a poke around.

Its worth doing, although you dont notice it, anybody following you see's this really tatty mess when the spoilers up.

Good luck

Mark

A word of advice. Check which way round the one is that you are taking off. I had one replaced by a Bodyshop they got it wrong, and had to replace it again.

Don't they do a metal type as well?

My mate's old C2 had a plastic spoiler wall that broke, but my 964RS has a metal device. Presumably you;'d be able to fit a metal one?

Cheers

It's not anodised Melv, honest! It looks gen-u-ine Porsche to me.

Besides, you're the chap with a pair of :whisper: Cobra seats in his car. Hehe!!!
