Rear spoiler not seating correctly… the solution…

When ever any work gets done to the engine, the first thing the technician does is to remove the rear bumper and the spoiler. After my car was in to fix the water pipe/pump issue I noticed that the spoiler wasn’t fitting flush with the body work in the down position… it’s was a simple enough fix (it need to be seated correctly in the metal plate), but involved a trip back to the dealer …. The moral: always check the spoiler is flush before you head home…

I was hoping you were going to inform us a tip on how to do it ourselves. Had mine in a few times to the dealer to correct the alignment/seating of the spoiler, still not completely happy, they say it the best they can do.

lol! I'd love to be able to do that ... mine still doesn't fit completely perfectly. The top left corner doesn't quite sit flush - may be by 0.7mm.
Like you, I was told this was the best they can do - I think the plastic moulding of the spoiler is not quite accurate enough.

There are plastic pads under the spoiler, but I can't see how these will improve the fit of the corner without making it worse somewhere else. Do you want to have a fiddle with them and report back??

The problem I had after the service was much worse than this - maybe 3 mm proud of the body work on both sides... (photo attached). I'll try to get an "after" photo later...

... after dealer adjustment (the other side is even better). The gaps are now even all the way around and the bottom edge of the spoiler (above the lights) matches the rest of the bodywork. I think its OK now...

I take some photos tomorrow, I noticed the miss alignment when I pick up the car from the dealer. So it came out from the factory with the slight miss alignment even before the dealer had taken off the bumper!

everything - and apparently everything - needs the bumper and spoiler off, so (if its as bad as the first picture) it might have been wrongly seated in the pre-delivery inspection...

Firstly apologies for the dirty car, here are a few pics of the spoiler seating, Currently it looks OK with the adjacent body panels however I hope the pic will demonstrate that the top edge near the vets is sited raised. Its better than it was, Looking at my old pic of the care at the dealers compound I can see that the far edge is raised.

Its better than it was, the bottom pic is car at the dealers compound , recently arrived off the transporter (its still got its white protection film on). You can see that the far edge is raised! Interesting its the same side as yours rgbower!.

Under the engine cover, there’s a rubber stop that might lift the edge of the cover so it matches the spoiler better … seems like the spoiler itself is ok? if mot, there may be rubber stops under the bottom edge that will let it sit lower? Let us know how it goes…
