I need to replace the black flexible plastic rear wall or 'protection shield' part of my rear spoiler.
Part no: 993 512 121 00

Design911 online price is £52.75 + delivery + VAT

Has anyone replaced theirs? Is it difficult to fit? Where did you buy it from?
I'll try OPC for price on Monday when the parts desk opens.

I need to this as well. Full instructions here:

http://p-car.com/diy/spoilerwall/

but go to the end of the page where an update says you don't really need to do any dismantling of the spoiler.

I guess with PCGB discount the wall will be cheaper at your OPC. Let us know how you get on. [:)]

Yes I have replaced mine a few months back because mine split. You an buy it Porshaparts for £46 inc VAT.

Ask for Warren or Simon, say Norm sent you, and they will give you a bit of discount.

In fact it reminds me, I need another one for my uncle.

Off topic a bit, but how's it going Norm?

Is your paint all sorted?

Are you still looking for a 993 or are you staying with the older sister?

Chris

Off topic!

im well Chris, how are you? are we going to see you and the car this year?

Yes the paint is all sorted, just enjoying the car now, got odd bit to do such as waiting for my new wheels painted, bored of the old white center ones and getting round to do the interior. What about you?

Why do you have a 993 or know of a 993 for sale?

Norm

How do Norm,

Good to here the car's getting there!

All's well here too thanks for asking :)

I wish I had a 993 to sell, but alas I only have the one Porsche, lol

Ive finally fitted my refurbed RH splittys (horah!!!). I'll get some piccys up this weekend when ive cleaned the car. Just starting to fit the parts ive gathered during the winter months.

We've got a show on in the North East in May (Sunday 16th) if you fancy a drive North. Its aimed at high-end type motors and PCGB is heading there.

Chris

yeah sounds good! Email me pics to Koonshum@aol.com if thats easier ;-)

If I get time, I would come to the show, give me more details of where, and I could take a day up there.

Keep in touch.

Thanks Norm. I've just ordered one from Porsch-apart. It's a genuine Porsche part and came to around £58 incl courier delivery and vat.

Just for anyone's information, the price from OPC Bristol was £69 incl VAT and 5% PCGB discount.

They are very mean Rich....OPC Wilmslow always give me 10% and I can sometimes twist their arm for 15% on big items.

Who did you deal with?

Was there yesterday buying all the bits for my uncles 964, Warren is busy away[:D] so Rod was good to deal with!

WANTED Simons Porsche bike laid up on the corner[]

They are mean at time, but surprising they can match on some bits, like window seals[8|]

Surely you can sort it out Steve! Say how are you keeping Steve? you making full use of the weather with your sweetly built engine?

Have to hookup soon.

Norm

Hey Norm, slowly putting the miles on. Should be run in shortly after the trip to Silverstone for the FIA GT next weekend. Then it's an oil change and check-over ready for Oulton Park trackday on June 2nd with the rest of the north west 964/RS gang. Also booked Silverstone for July and Rockingham for August [:)].

p.s. I only meant Rich's local OPC were being mean with their discount...the rest of the OPCs tend to standardize on 10% off parts for PCGB members.

Okay, I've just fitted the rear wall. Took about 5 - 10 mins in total including cleaning up afterwards.

I used the 'quick' procedure at the bottom of the link.

I first sprayed a little WD40 along both channels just to help them go in. I found the trick with the top edge was to make sure the channel at one end (I started r/h side) is pushed all the way home until it clicks-in, then the rest goes in easily. The bottom channel is a doddle.

Cheers to Norm for the Porsch-apart* heads-up and Steve for the 'how to' link.
[:D]

*I called Bristol OPC and Design911. Porsch-apart was the best price I could find. [:)]

I never even thought to ask. I've just spent hundreds at OPC Swindon. I didn't realise there was a club discount.

Doh.

Finally got round to doing this job myself. As Rich says the longest part of the job is giving the underside of the spoiler a good clean down 'while you're in there' [:)].

Before.....daylight coming through the broken wall:

So ... about this 5-10 minute job!

Well, I finally got my head around things only to find that the replacement part does not snap onto the top rail as it should i.e. the channel on the new part is just too wide / open and flops off! The old part can be re-fitted and stays firmly in place but there is no way the new part will do the job. So ... back to the OPC dealer for a relacement part!
