Rear spoiler problem.

Hi,

I wonder if anyone has had the same issue with the spoiler of a 993. The motor spins but the mechanism does not move, it could be an issue with the flexible drive shaft that appears to engage the mechanism.

Symptoms: I heard a ticking noise as the spoiler tried to retract and then the warning light came on - it's stuck halfway down. I no longer get the clicking noise when I engage it so suspect something has become disengaged or snapped. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Hi Anthony,
I replaced the drive cable on my spoiler when it developed the dreaded ‘coffee grinder’ noise.
It’s good news the motor is operating, and sounds to be a mechanical issue.
I’d disconnect the drive cable and check that the spoiler moves freely. Check for missing teeth on the gears and replace if necessary. Check the microswitches for operation and adjustment to make sure the motor cuts out when it should.

There is an episode of Wheeler Dealers on the 993 where Ed addresses this issue,
Pelican Parts have a ‘how to’ in their DIY maintenance section (from memory).
