Rear spoiler ups and downs...

Hi all,

1998 C2.

Noticed the spoiler warning light sometimes stays on a bit longer than the others, but usually goes out once I move off - seems relatively normal according to the manual but the intermittent nature cause dme to raise an eyebrow - any thoughts?

Also the manual switch - if I touch it once the spoiler deploys Ok, but I've noticed you have to hold it in to get it to close completely - if I let go too soon it will stick half way - might be normal but I couldn't see the point of having it only half deployed.

Also, once its been moved up and down manually, I presume it just defaults to automatic mode when you next start the ignition.

Final question (!) the rear wall (bellows) are frayed and worn - I will have a go at changing myself, but if I get out of my depth (likely) is it OK to drive the car with bellows removed - I'm actually quite curious about their function generally - are they purely cosmetic or do they actually help the spoiler affect - I'd have thought they increase drag (parachute affect) given their position, but I expect Porsche engineers cleverer than me have already given this some thought....!

As always my thanks for any feedback.

It all sounds pretty normal to me.

This might help with the spoiler wall change: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=282009

Mine does exactly the same . One press of the button for the spoiler to go up. But you hold the button down to lower it. This is normal, and I think the manual mentions this as well.

Apparently the manual spoiler function has been engineered into it, so as not to trap fingers when closing.
