Hi All I have a 2002 996 Carrera 4s wide body...... love the car would love to fit a rear spoiler I've been trawling the Used Spares for a 996 Turbo Tailgate complete with spoiler and all electrics etc....Question is will it fit? I'm sure I saw a Carrera 4S with a Turbo Spoiler on Pistonheads... Any advice....................Cheers ken

i think.... the spoiler lid will actually fit but its the airbox and how the lid fits together with it thats the problem.

Hi,

When I looked into this it will not fit. There are some replica turbo spoilers but are in the extended position that will fit.

Regards Alan

Thanks Folks...........I think?.....Has any one actualy attempted it....I think if I take an interest I'll take a 'bucketload' of tools and have the original removed and just 'tacked' back on and try it before purchase they don't run cheap even secondhand. All good fun!

Just found a site showing the type of Spoiler that C4Sal could be talking about on a site www.msiha911.com That has spoilers and kits for the full range....... mine is the 996 GT2M in red. This site shows superb pictures from every immortal angle and the cars in all the Colours....Take a look! If I achieve that effect on mine I'll be well pleased.....Thanks Al

Hi Ken,

I too have a 996 4S and investigated the possibility of fitting a 996 Turbo engine lid and spoiler to my car. I was advised that the closing panel between the engine lid and the rear screen is smaller on the turbo than it is on the 996 4S. So the only way you can fit a 996 Turbo engine lid and spoiler to a 996 4S is to replace the closing panel with a turbo version. I also believe that the air box needs to be modified due to the spoiler rams, but I belive that this is not a big job.

I was also advised that the closing panel on the 996 4S convertible is the same as the 996 Turbo so a turbo engine lid and spoiler will fit a 996 4S convertible with just the airbox mods.

The above info was given to me by a Porsche specialist but please check for yourself.

I finally fitted a TechArt spoiler which I am very pleased with. It is easy to fit and the car can be returned to standard if required. The engine lid is retained and the original louvre type spoiler is replaced with the static one shown in the attached pic.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Steve. [Nice colour Guards Red.... but then I'm Biased....] I paid a visit to Specialist Cars at Malton to get some inspiration....they had a 996 Turbo so 'popped' the lid and sure enough the 'rams' would go straight through the Airbox on mine....Hmmmmmm! They had a Silver Turbo lid in stock and offered to fit it but I could see it wasn't going to be straight forward so I think like yourself it's an 'aftermarket' Jobbie for Me! I'll look up the TechArt on the Net......[I think after the wide bodied 22B Subaru with it's adjustable top wing, standing nearly as tall as the car...the Spoiler for me has to be a bit less 'discreet' than the Turbo Anyways]....Then it's the front lower lip and she'll be right as they say!
That wing certanly adds something to your car, by the way... Looking Good!

Well I got the Misha 911.com GT2M wing for the C4S It was shipped Monday the 15th and recieved on my doorstep in the UK on the Wednesday....straight to paint used a Company called 'Pride and Joy' in Middlesbrough who sprayed and Laquered it with a perfect colour match. it came with a CD with 200 pictures after 15 min's to scan that I was in the garage and the Electtric one was out and the new one sitting in place...Looking Good, even in it's primer...fitting took about an hour.

Hi Kenny,

Looking nice. Can you post a few more pics from different angles???

Still in 2 minds about doing this to my C4S.

Cheers Alan

Hi C4S al It certainly gives the car Prescence it looks VAST! I am going to fit the Turbo Chin spoiler colour coded of course and probably the Techart Type 2 skirts mind this is a grand plus option on the sills! The GT2M Wing is a DIY 'jobbie' if you are Handy or you you could let a Body shop do it for you you need a short harness for the fixed wing car part number 996-612-070-51 otherwise the warining light comes on as you Blast past 75 [who said that?] The Quality is excellent with little 'prep' work for the Painter......As long as you live nowhere near me......... I recommend one........I Want mine to be 'Unique' a little while yet....Just kidding
