Hi All, recently my 993 C2 spoiler has developed a rattle/vibration at speed. Mainly when motorway driving. When I bought the car the dealer, when taking me through the various controls, pointed out the spoiler control button but said it was probably left well alone as it can be a pig to reset properly.
So"¦ all though i want to go in and investigate the rattle my self I'm a little wary of starting a whole new mess. Therefor does anyone have any advice on A. what the rattle may be. And B. how tricky the spoiler control can be?
Thanks
Tim

I am afraid he was bullsh*tting you. You push it one way to raise the spoiler and the other to lower it. That's as complicated as it goes. It goes back to automatic mode under various circumstances and certainly next time the car is turned off. There is nothing you have to do to reset it. Sounds like he didn't want you to touch the button.

There is an article about spoiler problems in the 993->Technical Articles section. See if that helps or let us know if you have a different problem.

Ian.

Thanks for help. Have since played with spoiler and found nothing apparently loose. So it's going in to be looked at. Will let you know the result. Going for long drive tomorrow to have a bit of a play though anyway.[:)]

Right... finally fiddled with spoiler at speed and still got the rattle! So had a good prod round when stopped and found the rattle is actuially coming from a loose wheel arch housing! So two burnt fingers later, dont stick your hands into engine compartment after travelliong 60 miles at speed, all i need is a new screw/bolt. hey ho, mind at rest. Thanks for help anyway on the button.

+1, mine too, top left.

I came to the conclusion no adjustment so ended up filing / sanding a few mm of the plastic away from the upper corner underside/edge (and then a few coats of touch-up paint to blend in) just so it would stop rubbing the paint away on the engine lid.
Completely unnoticeable paintjob. Also the spoiler sits flush around its periphery, no longer skewed slightly, and the 3-4 mm gap is maintained all the way round when lowered.

Hi
There are spacers under each side , mine had 3 each side.
By removing 1 or 2 it will lift the spoiler .
