rear spoiler...

ok, don't shoot me down yet....but i was wondering if there's a nicer looking rear spoiler available rather than the black solid one. I was thinking more something that pops up on the arms with just the top bit.....rather than the black rectangle.

I thought the RS60 had one but can't tell from the photos - porsche are very good at pictures where the cars are doing about 5mph.

anyone know if there is something out there.....also whether there would be any negative affects...?

thanks

I guess you could paint the black bit. And there are certainly companies that make stickers specifically for them - some on eBay.

I bought one from ebay. It came from the US painted in the correct colour and just screws to the top of the two lifting arms. You just remove the black part and the original top section and use new longer screws supplied.
I don't seem to be able to attach a photo here, let me have your email and I'll send some pics over.

i've seen one for a 986 version as bob describes but not one for a 987 unless its in conjunction with a new rear bumper as per the sport design kit or the cayman.

bobster, will pm you my address, thanks!

i thought the one on the RS60 looks pretty good but haven't seen one in the flesh and can't find the picture now. that's the kind of thing i'm after.....i hate the black plastic bit...

From what i can see in the RS60 supplement the rear spoiler is the std 987 one.

Sport Edition cars came with a revised rear bumper and spoiler arrangment - the shape of the bumper around the spoiler area i'm pretty certain is the same as that std bumper, but the spoiler itself is different as below picture of silver car.

The problem with this spoiler and the extra stick on lip below it is that it doesn't fit as well with the rear boot edge as the std spoiler does.

This is another guy from www.boxa.net who fitted a Cayman rear bumper and the Cayman spoiler(s)...

If you are able to check the part numbers i would imagine the Cayman spoilers are the same as the Boxster SPort Edition ones (also refered to a Tequipment Aerokit).

sorry, i got it wrong, you're right its the sport 's' i was refering to rather than the rs60. i'll give the opc a call and ask if retro fitting is possible (and thanks to bob - he's sent some great shots of his car and will send on some details)

one question - when you say stick on lip you mean the part under the spoiler when down right? i don't want to start drilling holes or changing bumpers.

thanks all
