Rear Spring Snapped

Hi all,

After enjoying a nice drive around this afternoon was just reversing the car onto the drive and a very loud bang from the drivers side rear announced that I now only have 3 intact suspension springs!!

The car is a 2006 987 2.7 with 18" S wheels.

I am wondering about my options - should I just replace the two rear springs with OEM or should I take the opportunity to upgrade to Eibach's or similar?

I realise that lowered suspension is going to be somewhat more hash especially when combined with 18" wheels but I would be interested in people suggestions.

The cul de sac I live in has a pretty vicious speed bump at the entrance and then a number of "island" type speed humps in the immediate vicinity so lowering the car by 30mm does if I am honest worry me more than a little!

Is there a viable alternative to the old M030 setup that was offered on the 986?

I realise I am going to need a geometry check if I go down the route of lowering or using non OEM springs but will probably get that done in any case just to make sure

Anyone have an idea how much a pair of OEM rear springs cost?

Thanks

Paul

My son paid £720 for 2 front springs fitted on his 2005 987 2.7 with 'S' alloys at OPC in January!
The price included a new rubber over the shocker (chewed up on the side the spring snapped) and an alignment!
