Rear Suspension "creak" Cayman S 2010.

You're right. Worn or brittle rubber bushes the likely cause of suspension creaking. They have a finite life, and may well need replacing at around your car's mileage. It could well be the rear suspension strut top mounting bush that's creaking.

A competent specialist workshop should be able to identify the offending bush and quote for a replacement.

It's up to you who you get to do this work. I would get a quote from a reputable independent route as well as the OPC. Best to ask the indy if they have done this type of repair on a similar Porsche before.

Hope this helps.

Dear fellow members
Have yet to digest all the info available on this great site , new member etc . But hope yous can help. My Cayman S 2010 is 10/10 . 40,000 miles. 4 yrs perfect enjoyment . Until last few week or two , perhaps very hot weather related, when its developed an annoying "creak” from rear driver side suspension after 15 mins warm up or so. Very audible especially at slow speed on even good roads . Internet searches describe it as a "creaking old boot” which is spot on. Not metallic or grinding and in no way related to steering . Coming to a halt and simply using modest hand pressure on rear wing its very clearly audible and seems to be high up on the suspension where no wheel movement is required . I think it’s a "dry” bush or bearing but rather than some web suggestions of lower bush / sus arms / joints and some iffy remedies , think its high up where damper / spring is bolted to body.
Would much appreciate hearing form anybody with similar exp . And perhaps possible costs of Porsche main dealer repair ( I use West Byfleet for servicing ) v specialised but not main dealer facility. Any recommendations re latter , if it proves necessary, would be much appreciated ?
Many thanks

Might it be an opportunity to fit a set of poly bushes ?

These will make the handling more direct and last the life of the car ... ??

and prob creak lol

Porsche bushes are nice units I would stay oem greater NVH can be an issue with Polly ones.

My mate did it with a set of KW3 and full polly bush set up, did not make for a very nice ride :-(

Thanks to all. Will probably stick with original equipment and see what the main dealer wants to sting me for , assuming they agree with my diagnosis , which really does not sound very expensive. J.
