Rear suspension problem with 997 C2S

Hi, I have a problem with my October 04 - 997 C2S. The car has suddenly started to drive very oddly. The suspension at the rear feels like something has broken. The car wobbles from side to side, noticeable when manouvreing at low speed and especially when going over very small bumps or undulating surfaces. Also at high speed, during motorway driving the car squirms at the rear.

This problem is made worse when you turn on the sports mode (which I understand stiffens the suspension.)

The main Porsche dealer (JCT Brooklands) has the car in from today to assess the problem, but when I took it in a couple of week ago they said they could find nothing wrong with it. There were no broken components and the PASM was showing no fault on the diagnostics.

I have read this thread:

...and wondered if it was possibly the same issue, although the dealer says they have no record of any TSB that covers this subject. (I also cant find anything in the TSB section of this website?!?!)

Can anyone help or advise? If Porsche wont acknowledge the fault I'm a bit stuck.

If you're in the OPC today then at least it's the right place. If there's no fault found, try taking the technician for a drive with you driving and point-out what you're feeling - you can always ask to drive their latest demonstrator as well and point out the differences.

I've checked the TSB section and I couldn't find anything on PASM listed, but it's not an exhaustive list I'm afraid.

Let us know how it goes.

thanks for the reply Rob. I did take the car out with a technician a few weeks ago and he agreed that there was a fault with the car but couldnt quite pinpoint what it was at the time. The car is now back in with JCT Brooklands this week so they can assess it for longer.

I got a phone call today which made me rather angry. The Technician has acknowledged that there is indeed a fault with the suspension on the car, and has spoken to Porsche UK technical dept who have stated that it is a 'characteristic of this particular car' and they are not offering a solution. Needless to say that this is red rag to a bull, and I will be straight onto Customer Services at Porsche Reading tomorrow morning. They have to address this problem and cant just palm it off because they havent experienced another fault like it!

I have owned a 996 c2 and also a Cayenne in between getting this 997 c2s and so I know what the ride quality should be like on a Porsche. The car literally changed its ride characteristics over night, so something has gone wrong with it.

Interestingly JCT also had another 997 in with the reported same fault as mine, but the car went back to the customer within the same day so they could not assess it properly.

Lets hope it gets sorted soon.
