I need to replace the Spring Plates (No.7) and had a quote £525 +vat each.

Considering what the part is I think this is outrageous.
So I've checked the forums and someone suggested RS parts as they were cheaper, well things have changed and they are the same price.
There are some race parts which I'd like to know if anyone on the forum has used, these work out at about half the price even after postage and vat and customs.

911 964 Rear Spring Plate Set
[964RSPLT] $750.00
This kit replaces the factory spring plates and compliant rubber bushings with a precision rod end that allows for friction free movement and easy adjustment of toe angles without affecting camber. The precision rod end also improves driver feedback and maintains alignment settings for better handling. The plates are fabricated from alloy steel and nickel plated for strength and corrosion resistance.

FWIW and I know they very expensive but I would only consider original Porsche parts for this sort of stuff. Better to be safe than sorry.

p.s. are you replacing them because they're corroded beyond use? If so, what about contacting Porsh-apart for some used ones?

Hi Steve, I've been seeing some grease around the chassis end bearing and assume that the bearing is shot. I expect that after 18 years and 97k they are well worn. I wouldn't consider 2nd's as they are probably just as bad or at the best on their way out.
All I need is the bearing replaced and if I could leave it on a ramp for a few days/weeks could get it replaced at an engineering outfit I know. But I don't have that luxury.
As for using Porsche Parts, at these prices I'm feeling sh*fted. Knowing that the bearings probably cost £20-40 max.
These Race parts are designed and used for cars with a lot more stress than I'm ever likely to put on them.
So I'm interested in knowing if anyone this side of the Atlantic has used them.
