rear trailing arm bushes

Hi,

Are the rear trailing arm bushes replaceable? Looking at the parts catalogue there is no part number.

I am looking to refurbish the rear suspension and see two square rubber mounts and then two round bushes. Should I focus my efforts on any particular bush to give a improvement in handling and ride or should I just replace all at the same time?

Any tips regarding which to change first and how would be appreciated.

The round bushes come bonded to the 'rear axle strut' and are a heafty price from Porsche. Replacing them is also a lot of work.

Some people have replaced them with 'Elepahant racing' bushes and there was a good picture story recently on Porsche968uk when 'Chris Franklin' from 'Centre of Gravity' fitted a set for somebody. The Elephant racing bushes have to be glued/bonded onto the axle and then a grease nipple drilled and fitted. Again a lot of work.

I don't think you will be able to tell how much the round bushes have perished or worn unless you can strip the whole rear down.

The square bushes are easier to see if worn/cracked or split and repacing those is 'a lot less' of a job but still access is difficult.

I see bushes 2, 4 and 11 but the one circled in red does not have a part number?

I understand you are talking about the bushes which are bonded to item 23. I do not plan to replace these

Thanks for your help

Bush no 4 + 11 im sure are still available from Porsche, i wouldnt like to guess at the cost though.
The bush in the red circle are avaiable as a "poly" bush, from powerflex. As are the no 2 bush.
Depending on the mileage of your car, you might find it doesnt need any replacements.
No 4 bush usually separates itself from the backing plate, but you can only realy find that out if you remove the rear beam....
On my car i got a second rear beam, replace ALL the bushes with either poly[2+red circle] / solid/billet ally[4=11] / elephant racing [bonded 23], items. Then removed my old beam and replaced it with the FULLY refurbed beam.
It handles like its on rails now, but a tad harsh for normal road use, as it transmits road noise into the cabin...
BUT its one awesome track beast..[:D][:D][:D][;)][;)][;)]

Thanks.

The cars done 130000 and no history of much suspension work so it's all a bit tired. I will find out the prices and availability of the various bushes and then start dismantling.

Item 4 is defintately shot as it's separated from the metal plate, more difficult to tell with the rest until I start taking apart.
