Rear tyre wear

I’ve recently worn out a set of rear tyres, with the majority of the wear on the inside shoulders. I have had the tracking done following a few new suspension parts last autumn, organised by a good independent garage but to OEM spec.

Is this just a feature of 997s or should I be taking it to someone like Center Gravity for a “proper” setup?

Even with a perfect GEO set up it seems a 997 trait that the inside edge wears out before the rest of the tyre. Mine is set up perfectly and the inside edge is always still showing some tread when the middle is down to the 2.5mm I normally change them at. I wouldn't see it as a problem unless the inside edge is bald before that.

Porsche factory settings place a little too much emphasis on rear wheel negative camber. You would do well to reduce neg on the rear and get more tyre footprint onto the road. Chris at CG would be able to advise.

Clive

When I bought my 2010 997.2 it had heavy wear on the inside tyres. I took it to CG and Pete said it had never had a GEO and was most likely on the Porsche's factory geo but everthing had sagged/altered etc over the years. Pete sorted the geo and then I replaced the tyres.

I'd 100% Agee with the advice above, I track my 992 GT3 which was set up by CG for fast road/track, the difference between standard is unrecognisable. The visit to their shop is a treat with the full spectrum of every type of Porsche being worked on, every driver looking for different things from their Porsche. You can't go wrong.
