Rear Tyres

The rear tyres need changing on my 2001 C4, and they are PS2 265/35/18. I am told that they can be replaced with 285/30/18. If I did this would I notice any difference either positive or negative?
It seems the 265s are getting harder to get hold of, so can find 285s more easily. Would appreciate some advice.

The 285/30/18 is the standard size for the facelift 996 rear tyre, so they will fit fine. The only difference is that the facelift had 8" front wheels, and yours are 7.5" wide. Both use the same sized front tyre. Will you notice any difference? I very much doubt it. The upside is that they fill the arches a little better. The only snag I can think of is from an insurance point of view, as they will be non-standard for your model.

Just contacted insurance and they said it makes no difference to premium, its only BHP increase that would alter it. Happy days CCI.

I live local to Richard and for what it's worth, I have just replaced the rears on my 996T 295/etc and a pair of Bridgestones cost me £570 fitted and balanced at a reputable outlet in High Wycombe.

I have just ordered 2 Michelin PS2 285/30/18 for £ 438. Cheapest I could find, from Pneus online. Even with fitting locally its a good price imo.

Do you have them delivered to the Tyre Fitter direct ?

That is an option when you order the tyres online, but I have them coming to my home address, then I can get them fitted at my leisure. They have selected fitting depots throughout the country.

Thanks, How do you get them to the tyre fitters as I would imagine they don't fit in a 911 ?

I believe when you buy them online there is the option to ship to the fitting depot instead of your home address. If you have a look at their website you will see what I mean. Good Luck.
