oohhh A nasty little job !

I had mine replaced earlier this year the bearing is tightened to some crazy torque setting and needs at minimum of a 1 inch drive socket as used on commercial vehicles and a breaker bar with an extension for example piece of pipe to achieve the amount of force to undo

we tried a 3/4 inch drive and snapped the drive square from the end

the rear strut needs to be removed and the new bearing pressed into place a hardening type grease was used to help lubricate it into place

check the torsion settings for replacing the hub I am pretty sure there is something on Clarks garage with the full procedure

Hope it goes well for you

Paul,
www.arnnworx.com do a bearing puller tool.
I replaced both rear bearings but its not a ten minute job. The tool will pay back in one bearing change, and guarantee you a good job. Most general mechanics will not do this well, bearings can be destroyed by bad fitting practise as you probably are aware.
The freezer is a good Tip.
Good luck
George
