Rear Wheel Bearings Boxster S 986

My car is beginning to make a noise like a rear wheel bearing is failing. It has done 26K miles. Is this sort of failure common? What are other peoples experience with rear wheel bearing life please?

I had a (think it was front) wheel bearing replaced at just over 30K miles.
This was done under goodwill at the service (4 years old car with Warranty). I discussed with the service manager at the time and he said it was unusual.

At my last service (24k, less than 2 years), front left bearing was diagnosed as "noisy". I'd never heard it. Bearing was replaced under warranty, but struck me as an odd thing to happen on any car these days, especially a Porsche sports car. Needless to say it had to go back after the work was done, because the shield behind the disc wasn't refitted properly and tapped against the disc, which definitely was noisy!
