Rear Wiper Help

Hi Gents,

MOT time next week - so just making sure that the car is up to scratch.

Rear wiper is all split on the blade so needs a new one.. I went and got a full set of 19" for the front and a 20" for the back as they should be - but I cant understand how to fit the rear and am thinking that maybe its a special one that needs to be ordered from Porsche?

It has a loactor pin type thing on it - not the normal U shape..

Here is a couple of pics of what I mean:

So is there a way that you can get that fixing out to put in the new bosh blade? I didnt want to try and then break it completely?

Cheers A

The pin on mine is removeable, I've transferred it to a new wiper twice now but from the photo yours looks like it's rivetted in.

Can you swap the blade over (just the rubber bit) so yu have the new rubber in the old holder?

You have exactly the same problem I had.  The replacement bosch blades at halfords do not come with the little metal cylinder the connects the blade to the arm.  I had to get my blade from my OPC.  Also, you can no longer get the arm that you and I have.

Once you have paid the £11 to the OPC for the new blade, you will have the vital piece for this and future blade replacements. Halfords bosch blades are correct for the car, but they don't come with the cylinder.  Once you have the cylinder, you will be able to get standard halfords bosch blades as long as you don't lose the cylinder connector.   This will all make sense when you buy your new OPC blade. !

I see - so the one Porsche will sell now has the pin attachment as a removable piece from the blade as apposed to rivetted in...

Call to Porsche tomorrow then - and I will keep this Bosh 20" for future.

Thanks all

I replaced my std rear blade with a 24" item ~ much better in terms of clearing (given that the original wiper is designed for LHD) , and I didn't need any new pin ( ? )

The wiper arm from an 89 differs to that on later 944 models I think. The later 944s seem to have the 968 twin spring version with the normal loop end arm the same as on the front wiper arms.   I think the rear arm on the 1989 944 date back to the 924 days (but I could be wrong !)

I see - yes my fronts are twin spring jobs with the u connection.

I wonder if a front arm would fit the rear - i,e, length etc

Just to change the subject slightly the rear wiper is not an MOT failure if not working , however not sure how things stand in regards to the condition of the blade even if it isn't working. I went some 6 years without mine working , I've only just recently bought a replacement motor of ebay to fix the problem.
