Rear wiper swap

Morning All,
My rear wiper gave up a while ago and i was thinking of putting the wiper on the correct side of the car, any done this or know how expensive it is?

Plenty of cars have had the rear wiper removed and replaced with a 968CS bung, or home-made equivalent. I've never seen anyone do this, then drill a hole on the other side and find a motor that runs the opposite way!

Wiper wouldn't have to run the opposite way but have the park position would be horizontal.
Try some RainX on the hatch instead.

Cheers,

Leave it where it is but use a 24" blade instead of the stupid standard size item. "Fits" the car well and actually clears enough to make it useful... unlike the original.

Pretty crap pic HERE

Speaking of wipers, I'm gonna go a little 'off thread' here and ask if anybody has converted the fronts to a single wiper system - touring car/VW esque?

re. single wiper.

Why on earth would you want to? It would look like a BarryBoys shed.

Furthermore, the 944 has a low aspect-ratio sized screen, i.e. it's wide but not very tall. It would be impossible for one wiper to give anywhere near enough horizontal clearing without poking over the top when vertical.

A chap who lives in my road has done that to his Pug 306 but that's because:

a) it's a Chavvy Pug and that's what you do, innit?
b) he's 17
c) his IQ is also 17, or thereabouts.
d) it's well bling innit chap?

As you may have deduced, I'm not keen on this idea and the answer to your question as to whether anybody has done it before is, I suspect, no.

Agree wholeheartedly, in every respect.

If you want a car with a single wiper, I think early Citroen BX's had them. One of them may do you nicely.

Oli.

Alright alright! Blimey! I agree that it tends to be a feature on many 'chav-cavs', but it is also a feature on many racing Porsches. I believe it was originally done by the VW lads on GTI's to echo the touring car look and, when installed on the right car, looks great IMHO.

Cheers,
Ive been using that for a while, the wiper has been sat on the back seat, used to get condesation off the windows :p The 24" wiper sounds a good plan if i can be bothered to sort the motor out.

You could always put the rear wiper diagonally opposite, i.e. the top right hand corner so it is pointing down and sweeping upwards! Another option would be to take the motor from something like a Mondeo estate i.e. a centrally mounted wiper that arc through a full 180 degrees and mount it centrally. Personally i'd plump for the Rainex action.
