Anybody on here know of these or indeed selling them ?

They would look rather fetching in my midnight blue and black interior car ! Did the original RS have the Recaro side mounts and lettering as per the advert ?

Ian

It's David Barnes on here. He's based around Worcs so not far from you.

The Recaro lettering is normally white vinyl die-cut lettering. Mine certainly are. I don't think the cars came from the factory with the graphic. Easily peeled off if you don't want them.

I will ask David about them, but I am just curious as to what was in the original RS - I thought Pole Positions in Leather or 'cloth' SPG in the NGT but my knowledge is as you know very limited and someone here will know I am sure what actual Recaro model was in each car.

I thought they looked nice seats as a colour combo for my car, and would mount nice and low so I could fit a helmet on - at 6' 3" my head nearly touches the sunroof without a helmet now in the sport seats.

Ian

Make sure they come with the mounts as these are expensive ... the lettering on the side was original .... The N-GT seats are different "Proxis" with the factory code ending in .69 denoting the cloth material.

Was the lettering on the side original? I've seen a lot of RSs without 'RECARO' lettering.

Sorry but couldn't help noticing you were talking about seats over here, any seat experts know what these ones are exactly ?? I'm sure they were not original fit to the car - 968 CS, and have Recaro on the side mounts.
Unfortunately they're quite narrow and I'm probably going to change them out, have started looking at Pole Positions which I think are a bit wider.

Hi Sandy,

I would be interested in taking over your seats, if you're thinking of selling them. Please PM me if that's the way you're going.

As far as I know the 964RS Sport (Lightweight) had unique seats, made by Recaro for Porsche. They are different from Pole Positions - most obviously, they're taller, and have different backs, and the tri-colour cushions. The 964RS NGT (Clubsport) had Recaro SPGs but with a special cover, that included the embroided Porsche crest (in fact the crest may be the only unique thing about them).

Hello Tat will keep you in mind, although it will be a few months at least before I do change them out - all going well.

Not sure the RS lightweight seats are unique. They are just different back design to the 'current' model pole positions but I've seen older non RS pole positions that looked identical to me.

Ian you can buy brand new pole positions pretty reasonably. There is a very well priced supplier in Nottingham :)

Jason - I see suppliers for cloth PP at say £450 and leather at say £850 but with mounts and runners a pair of leather is almost the same as the price of those on Ebay - but the Ebay ones have the triple blue inserts etc. so would look more 'correct' - just a thought for the moment as I need to get lower in the car to fit a helmet and sitting in Steve Brookes car with PPs allowed me to do that.

David has contacted me and we will discuss............are you the supplier in Notts :)

I have to agree that these ones are expensive compared to mine, which are synthetic leather covered and suede cushions and came in at £1250 (including mounts and sliders). However, the ones your looking at in real leather with Southbound's excellent reputation for trimming make them look a good buy IMO and would look fabulous in your car [:)]

p.s. be aware that SPGs are known to be quite narrow and many people go for the SPG-XL because of that.

i am going to see David tomorrow.

Ian - I'd be very interested to know what you learn from Southbound. I'm thinking of replacing my RS seat with an SPG (narrower, and better fit for me), but I don't know what other parts I'll need to make it fit into the car. As far as I know the original RS seats are about 20mm wider that the SPG at the mounting points (where they attach to the mounting brackets), and I think the seat rails are a set 406mm apart. So it would follow that we'll need mounting brackets to match the specific seat to the rails.

Thanks,
tat
