Rechargeable electric impact drivers

Anyone used one of these?
In theory they could be a great DIY alternative to kitting up with compressor and air tools.
Or they could be a complete waste of time, not shift anything and run down very quickly.
A compressor is far more versatile but rather more expensive.
I'd need new sockets either way.
Thoughts?

i am partner in a porsche indy and for the last 5 years have used nothing else but one of these but make sure you get a decent one, it will remove most things unless they have been airgunned to within an inch of its life..

i currently use the mac 1/2 drive one which is 19.2v but there are plenty out there...

I have been looking at them too. Clark do one for 70 quid but I have been warned of that one, don't know what is wrong with it, perhaps it doesn't last? There are some nice pro ones around but I don't fancy spending 300 quid on an electric driver.

I have a large compressor and small windy gun... ok for suspension bolts etc, but it won't touch either crankshaft pulley or rear hub nuts. I think it is rated at about 200Nm, but have tried running it over pressure, so not surprising really.

How-ever... I have a very large bar (1 1/2" x 5/8" black steel) with a 1/2" square drive lovingly filed in one end of it which will undo either.

Tref - you manage hub nuts with only a 1/2" drive - I sheared 2 (both old fashioned quality kit) doing mine, so I got a 3/4" set.
