recirculation motor

I could do with some technical advice from people who may have already been in my current situation..
I have a suspicion that the recirculation motor no longer functions and is in fact stuck in recirculation"¦
The motor in pictured is the motor I believe to be at fault, the 2 motors either side function as expected.

Has anyone removed and tested this motor before, how is its control arm fixed in place..?
Anyone know if there should be a circuit through the motor..? as I don't appear to have one.?

The attached shows the voltages I get at the connector, which to me look about right, indicating its not my control unit..?

Any help and advice will be most welcome.

thanks adam.

Sorry, don't know how you get that motor out, but have you tried getting an OBD readout? - It's quite detailed at saying which motors are faulty.

Hi Adam

I rally only have experience of these on a 964--taking them out is fairly easy-and when you dismantle the motor you can remove the motor and test it, away from the rest of the control mechanism--I have used a 12v supply from a mains transformer--if the motor functions you will know it is the carbon/copper contacts

The problem occurs with the carbon contacts inside the motor (at least with a 964) and the copper contacts can also get bent-I have cleaned the carbon contacts with alcohol and gently rubbed the copper contacts and this has worked for me.

Once you get the motor out you will need to gently prize it apart--when you re-assemble you will need to seat all of the gears before you try to close the case--this will require removing the larger planetary gear and placing the worm gear underneath--more straight forward than it sounds. Again I have not had to do this with the 993 so there may be some slight variations.

Let me know if you need anything further an I will have a dig around the 964 info I have.

Thanks for the advice....

I have popped the motor out, and it does look like it is the contacts and track which have failed... potentially more than just a clean is required, as it looks like it has become stuck in such a way that the the track and contacts have become hot, causing the track to lift slightly and the contacts are scorched...[&o]

Looks like its a call to the OPC tomorrow to see how much out of pocket I am this time.[8|]

Adam.
PS.. looks like the motor wasn't changed between the 964 and 933 as the part no is 964.624.325.00

Not only is the potentiometer track burn out, the motor is dead... so new unit from OPC required... at £117 less 10% +vat [X(]

Oh well it only money...[:(]
