Recommendations for a Market Value quote

Morning All !

The 951 is up for insurance renewal in the next few weeks, given the increase in market values of Turbo S', does anyone have any recommendations as to where/who I can take the car to for an accurate insurance valuation ?

Oh and BTW the car just flew through its MoT again :)

thanks

Chris

Valuations are free via the PCGB, but they are either out of date very rapidly (while the market is rising for 951's it's not rising THAT rapidly) or they do not reflect market value. I used the same description and photo's with my insurer and with PCGB and got considerably differing valuations. Thankfully the insurer considers it to be higher than the club!

I will re-submit my request to the club this year to see what's changed....(the car will have changed slightly too, but not considerably for valuation purposes)

Please don't ask me what the valuations were, I'm not going to print that! Anyone wanting to hazard a guess for a half decent (not concours but looked after is how I'd describe it generally), 951 on a C plate.

A Turbo S in similar condition would go for a few £k more due to rarity perhaps?

crikey, I didn't realise insurers had experience of buying and selling Porsches.....I thought they simply went on the internet and checked for sale ads on various sites, and we all know how unreliable the for sale prices are on those. Of course premiums are affected by values so the higher the value, the higher the premium. Also I didn't think "agreed values" are quite what most people believe they are.

I guess it comes down to the company you use.

Just my experience of Heritage insurance.

Had 19k agreed value.

It had a engine fire.

Assessor came out in a week.

Cat B write off.

I opted for £1250 buyback.

Cheque for £17,750 within 10days.

No quibble or arguments.

Brilliant service. Totally recommend.

As said above I also think it very much depends on the insurer....Lockton's have been very happy to insure mine for 25k and in fact suggested that it will probably need to be increased at the next renewal....I've just had the papers through so perhaps I should talk to them about this. The paperwork does state insured for 25k, they also said that they are very happy to honour any professional valuation that I submit...I just need to get around to it...lol

The annual Insurance dilemma for my 993. I have a renewal offering from Classic line circa £330.00 with 2 years NCB. Garaged, restricted mileage etc. Another big name quoted the same sort of figure and is specifically a Classic Car Policy. Or !! - Wait for it !! - Admiral Classic Car Policy approx £115.00. Any experience of Admiral policies or observations greatly appreciated. With Admiral I must send in 6 photos and £10.00 for the agreed value to kick in rather than market value. Spread over two vehicles this is a significant saving.

Thanks in advance

Mike

Not used Admiral myself... my son did though and said he wouldn't use them again... can't remember why though.. personally I have always avoided the cheapo insurers....not worth the risk...

I've read that some insurers load quite heavily if there's scaffold poles inside the car...

I've read that some insurers load quite heavily if there's Big Hoops fitted ! [:)]

I've used ClassicLine for several years now and recently renewed with an agreed value. I didn't compete their renewal which I possibly should have. However I like the fact they have provided cover for several years with no issues and they also cover track days. The agreed value made no difference to the cover price either. Does Admiral include track day cover? I would try to compete you current ClassicLine with the Admiral offer if it's like for like...

If that was a dig at me the 18" Gemballas were declared from day one, and made little difference.

Admiral does not specify track day cover and reads like a normal car policy. I cannot really understand what makes a classic policy any different to a normal policy apart from agreed value and restricted mileage. The other company did not include track day cover. I guess there is a risk with any insurer as you only find out how good they are on the day you have a claim but with two vehicles to insure I would save circa £400.00. There really shouldn't be that much difference between companies?

You sound Paranoid !

The Big wheel thing has been evident for years, and how many declare a change is probably not a lot!

I declared and listed every single mod to make sue but did well with a premium under £500.

That's an interesting site John.....seems that the value that mine is currently set at is spot on according to Hagerty...perhaps I should get her into Concours condition again to add a further 8k to her value...:) for anyone interested, the values given for an 86 turbo are:

Fair: £10900

Good: £17900

Excellent: £25300

Concours: £33400

She's still not for sale...:)

You quoted me in your post. I'd rather you didn't, as I really have no interest in your self serving opinions.

Sure I quoted and counter replied to your Scaffold poles claim, which quite clearly is not true but Big hoops on car's is

for sure something Insurance companies can and do load and attempt to wriggle in the event of a claim...
