Hi guys,

Looking for some of your expertise.

Looking for a Cayman S, preferrably facelift 2009 model or later, as i've heard a lot about the IMS engine issue in early Caymans (but not sure if this is really that big of a thing).

I've been reading some of the sales queries on the forum, and a lot of recommendations before buying private (ie not Porsche approved) seem to be to get a pre-purchase inspection/full diagnostic check before buying - does anyone have recommendations for garages who could do this within the Staines/Windsor area?

Thanks!

Hi Melvin, You could try Tognola Engineering ( http://www.tognolaengineering.com/ ). They're local to you and may be able to help. Also, Northway Porsche ( http://www.northwayporscheltd.co.uk/ ) is based in Reading. I think that the IMS issue is rather over-played and the Cayman benefits from updates which were incorporated in the later 987-series Boxsters. The DFI engine in the Gen2 cars has more power and torque, is more frugal and has lower emmisions and therefore lower tax than the Gen1 Caymans. Good luck finding your car. Whichever one you choose, you'll find it to be a great driver's car. Jeff

GT One are in Chertsey and have looked after my son's Cayman for several years. Friendly and knowledgeable people. http://www.gt-one.co.uk/ Good luck with your search.
