Recommended Boxster Tyres?

Hi, I have a 2002 Boxster 3.2S with 17" wheels and the tyres are getting on the worn side. I've looked on the internet but can't see any particularly strong recommendations for tyres and wondered if anyone had one?

Good handling and stopping is important of course but I'm also interested in long life, ride comfort and low noise. I've only ever taken it on one track day and tend to go around country lane corners at 60mph rather than 80mph so very high speed performance isn't really important. A reasonable price is of course!

Any suggestions welcome!

Thankyou, Jon.

I'd recommend the Michelin Pilot Sports - N3.
Meet all your criteria bar the price one - but worth it!

The 17" ones are now at the N3 mark - make sure you get these as you won't find N2 ones when you need a new set of rears to match the 1/2 worn fronts.

I've got a 2000 3.2S and, being new to Porsche, asked a similar question a couple of months ago.

I was told (quite emphatically) to use Pirelli P-Zero - as they were "designed for Porsche" quote/unquote.

Event tyres (through the internet) have them for reasonable money, and fitted where you want (home or work).

While agreeing that the P-Zeros are a good tyre, any tyre carrying an N rating means that it has been approved for use by Porsche.

Hi Guys

I put Hancook EVO 12's on mine, great tyres, superb in the wet fantastic grip, not too pricey either

I've had both Contis and Michelins on mine over the years: I find the Contis softer and a little quieter however the rear is a little more prone to slide.
Michelins are harder but grip noticeably better on the rear, although they are a little (& only a little) noisier.
Michelins last longer and are a bit more expensive.
Based on my experience and if the warranty would allow, perhaps the best solution is Contis on the front and Michelin on the rear - all N rated of course!

** Never mix tyre brand/type and if you abide by Porsche rules not even N ratings within the same tyre type on a car **

It seems that none of you have tried the Bridgestone Potenza SO2A N4; I would say the performance is on par with the Pilot Sport, they last longer and are 50 pounds less a tyre.

btw I hate the noise and feel of the Conti's on my 987 and since swapped these out.
